An online petition is pleading with Apple to add a redhead emoji


After IOS 8.3 came out it did not take long for people to realize gingers were not shown love in the new emoji update. The update includes black, brown, and blonde hair but no red. There is an estimated 1 to 2% of the population that are in fact true redheads.

It has been approved for sale in the United States but has already been banned from Vermont and Virginia. Everything you ever wanted to know about Jabba the Hutt


Jabba the Hutt was a puppet that took seven people to operate and create what we saw on the big screen in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. A twenty minute video was created by a Jabba super fan all about his creation, photos, interviews, and how the puppet worked. This video also corrects what was said about Jabba's movements in another documentary that had been created about him. 

Stunning Loch Ness fireball illuminates shadowy monster's home


A local tour guide in Scotland took a picture of the home of the famous Lock Ness monster and happened to get a shooting star in the time he hit the shutter of his camera. Some people believed it was photoshopped to help the tour guides business.

A new supermassive black hole puzzles scientists



Astronomers have recently found a black hole that is 12 billion times larger than the sun, it was formed about 875 million years ago after the big bang. This black hole is the largest that has been discovered. Every galaxy has a black hole, the Milky Way black hole is about 4 to 5 million times the size of our sun. The size is what has scientists so confused.

Teen faces murder charges after Snapchat selfie with victim's body


A 16 year old Pittsburgh-area boy was charged with murder when he took a selfie with the victim who was also 16. The picture was sent on Snapchat. The receiver of this Snapchat had saved it to their phone and showed their mother who then contacted the police. The teen had confessed to the killing and is being held with out bail. He will be trialed as an adult for first degree murder.

Mysteries nebula revealed in new image: 'mouth of the beast'

Part of the sky that looks very dark shows a nebula over 1,300 light years away. To the naked eye it is almost impossible to see. Scientists have a hard time studying such dark space. This nebula is called CG4 also know as God's Hand, it's a commentary globules. One side has been blown out kind of resembling a comet shape. CG4 is located in the Gum Nebula with part of it trailing away from the vela supernova remnant. It is also located in the constellation Puppis, made of very dense and dark material.

Kermit Elemntary School in Kermit Texas, has a 9 year old student who has a wild imagination. He believes he has magic powers and can turn other children invisible with ring. The school decided to suspend him for his none existent powers.

Seahawks lose Super Bowl, but Left Shark wins the Internet




Katy Perry performed during half time at the Superbowl when the Patriots defeated the Seahawks in the last quarter. Half time seemed to receive the most attention from the night not because of Katy Perry or even Missy Elliot, but because of the sharks dancing during the performance. The left shark was not "bringing it" and shortly became a new meme. See part of the dancing below.

Become an alien hunter with free online course from Harvard



Harvard is now offering a class taught by Dimitar Sasselov, an astronomy professor at Harvard. He is the director of Origin of Life Initiative which combines biologists, chemist, planetary scientists, and astronomers searching for the starting point of life on earth and else where. Until recently we only knew about the planets in our solar system, now we know of more than one thousand planets. This class will start February 10th and continue for six weeks.

Idina Menzel is singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl



Idina Menzel  star of the Disney Movie, Frozen as well as the original cast member for Wicked along with John Legend will be kicking off the Super Bowl  with their singing of The National Anthem. Katy Perry will take over at half time with help from Lenny Kravitz. In 2012 Kelly Clarkson sang The National Anthem after Christina Aguilera had messed up the wording the year before.



One of Menzel's tweets the other day after learning she will be singing at the Super Bowl.

The Force is strong with these 'Star Wars' half-marathon runners

January 18th Disneyland hosted its very first Star Wars themed half marathon. This event was apart of Disney's Rebel Challenge weekend. Sunday's half marathon course was mapped throughout Disney California Adventure park, past Disneyland and on roads in Anaheim California. Many participants dressed in Star Wars attire along with sideline gazers.
